What is a Primary Source

Primary sources are original materials. They can be many types of materials depending upon what you are researching.  Some examples of primary sources related to this course might be speeches, books, essay, and census data.

For example, Upton Sinclair's expose of the meatpacking industry, The Jungle, would be an example of a primary source.
