Discard Studies
The new multidisciplinary field of discard studies considers definitions of, attitudes toward,

behaviors around, and materialities of waste. This blog is meant as an online gathering place

for anyone whose work touches on themes relevant to the study of waste and wasting.

Scope of content includes all of the environmental sciences, including earth sciences, climate,

biology, and the allied aspects of history, archaeology, environmental policy, and engineering

applications. Content types include articles, photo galleries, videos, science news and curricula.
Environmental Protection Agency
The mission of the EPA is to “protect human health and the environment.” The “Learn the Issues”

section of this website suggests what you can do to protect the environment in your home, workplace,

and community.
National Climate Assessment
The report summarizes the impacts of climate change on the United States, now and in the future.

A team of more than 300 experts guided by a 60-member Federal Advisory Committee produced

the report.
National Geographic: Environment
One of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational institutions in the world, National Geographic’s

Environment pages provide information about global warming, habitats, energy, natural disasters,

and more.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This federal agency focused on the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere. They run the

National Weather Service.
NEON ~ National Ecological Observatory Network
National Ecological Observatory Network, sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
New Jersey Environmental Digital Library
New Jersey Environmental Digital Library (NJEDL) is an open repository of research and

educational materials to make available digital information on New Jersey's environment.
PLOS (Public Library of Science)
PLOS was founded in 2001 as a nonprofit Open Access publisher, innovator and advocacy

organization with a mission to accelerate progress in science and medicine
Science.gov
Science.gov searches over 42 databases and over 2000 selected websites from 14 federal

agencies, offering 200 million pages of authoritative U.S. government science information

including research and development results.
World Resources Institute
WRI is a global environmental think tank that goes beyond research to put ideas into action.

Projects include working on aspects of global climate change, sustainable markets, ecosystem

protection, and environmentally responsible governance.
