InterLibrary Loan

Welcome

Interlibrary loan provides HCCC faculty, students, and staff access to materials that are not available in our collection. Requests can be made for books or electronic delivery of book chapters/articles in print.

Interlibrary loan requests are accepted via our online form. Borrowers are then notified by email or text message about the status of their interlibrary loan requests.

Before making a request, be sure to read our Resource Sharing Policy.

FAQ

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

  • Interlibrary Loan is a service which provides students, staff, and faculty with access to materials that are not available at the Gabert Library and North Hudson Campus Library. We are able to borrow books, DVDs, and CDs in physical format. We are also able to borrow electronic versions of journal articles and book chapters for you to download to your device. Terms and availability of items are set by the lending library.

Where do I pick up and return my items?

  • You have the option to request your item to be picked up at either the Gabert or North Hudson Campus Library. You may return your item to either campus. Do not return items into the book drop. Items must be returned directly to a staff member at a circulation desk. This is to minimize the possibility of losing the item. We ask that you return the item with the attached book strap. Lost items will incur a $100 fee billed to your account.

How long will it take for me to receive my items?

  • This is dependent on the lending library. Please allow two weeks for physical items. Depending on the length of the scan, that request may be fulfilled sooner.

Can I renew my item?

  • This is dependent on the lending library. Please send a renewal request at least 3 days prior to the due date. If the lending library rejects the request, you must return the item by the due date.

What if I lost the item?

  • We will bill you for the charge set by the lending institution. Your ability to utilize the library and Interlibrary loan will be restricted until payment has been made.
