Alumni card

In order to use many of HCCC and the Library's services -- checking out books, accessing the College buildings, attending HCCC events -- HCCC alumni will need to obtain the alumni card.

To obtain the alumni card, please visit HCCC Alumni Services and fill out the HCCC Alumni Update Form. You will have your alumni ID card mailed to you and you can use this card to use Library services as an HCCC alumnus.

Online Resources

Due to the copyright restrictions from database vendors, HCCC alumni do not have access to our library-subscribed resources.

Books

HCCC Libraries are now open to our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community users.

HCCC Libraries also offer curbside pickup of books and DVDs.

All borrowed materials can be renewed only one time and need to be returned afterwards. Please return the library loans to the libraries if you no longer need them. Thank you!

HCCC alumni may:

  • borrow books (4 maximum) for 4 weeks.
  • borrow CDs, DVDs (2 DVDs/CDs maximum) for 14 days.
  • borrow 4 items total of which 2 may be DVDs, Blu-Rays, or CD-ROMs. 
  • renew loans once for 28 days until hard due date, if no outstanding holds or recalls on the material.
  • keep track of your borrowings via your Koha account.

Please note:

  • A current HCCC photo I.D. card with the alumni label must be presented.
  • Due to high demand, all Reserve books are for current HCCC students and faculty use only.
  • All materials must be returned by the end of the semester.

Newspapers & Magazines

We no longer offer print newspapers.

You can access newspapers online through the Library website. We have access to the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Financial Times without having to go through paywall.

Electronics & Devices

HCCC alumni may:

  • borrow CDs and DVDs (2 DVDs/CDs maximum) for 14 days.
  • borrow an audio headset for in-library use.
  • renew loans once until hard due date, if no outstanding holds or recalls on the material.
  • keep track of the borrowings via your Koha account.

Please note:

  • A current HCCC photo I.D. card with the alumni label must be presented.
  • Due to high demand, most electronics and devices are reserved for the current HCCC students, faculty and staff use only.
  • All materials must be returned by the end of the semester.

Computers / Wifi / Charging

Computers
  • JSQ - 58 VDI computers and 18 MAC computers. NHC - 30 VDI computers and 2 MAC computers. 
  • Laptop loan for up to 2 hours, in library use only. First come, first served.
Network
  • Select Student from the available wireless signals on your laptop or mobile device.
  • When prompted, log in with your HCCC username and password.
Charging Station
  • Charging stations for cell phones are available on each floor of the Libraries.
  • Some study desks are equipped with power outlets that allow for laptop charging. 

Study Spaces

Gabert Library

  • Quiet Study Room  - first floor, near MakerSpace.
  • Study tables - first and second floor, open area.
  • Soft seating (upholstered chairs) - first and second floor, open area.

North Hudson Library

  • Quiet Area - main floor.
  • Study tables - main floor.

Private group study rooms are open to current HCCC students only.

Please keep the study desks clean and tidy, and be mindful of others studying. There is no food allowed in study rooms and outside desks.

Makerspace

The HCCC MakerSpace is a space for you to show your creative side, share interests and ideas with peers, and work on group projects with the provided devices and equipment.

Use of the 3D printers is by appointment. You can choose to:

  • Send us your model by email and pick up a 3D object for free from our Gabert Library.
  • Bring in your model and print on your own. Library staff members will be there to help with the equipment and provide basic technical support.
