What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism means using someone else’s words, ideas, or work and using them as if they’re your own. It’s a form of cheating. This could happen in writing, presentations, or even creative work like music or art.

When you’re given an assignment, you’re expected to complete it on your own unless your professor tells you otherwise.

What Are Some Examples of Plagiarism?

Examples of Plagiarism

  • Using work you didn't create and saying it's your own. This includes writing, audio, video, AI like ChatGPT, etc.)

  • Changing parts of someone else's work and saying it's your own 

  • Reusing your own past assignments without citation

  • Putting other people's words into your own (paraphrasing) but not giving them credit 

  • Citing some but not all of the sources you used
