Common Power Point Questions
Adding Videos to Power Point Slides
How to print multiple slides in a page
Adding videos on Power Point slides is a common question we have in the Library. One way is using YouTube. Searching for YouTube videos became an option on Power Point for Office 365 and Office 2019 versions. Older versions may need to use an embed code to attach YouTube and other online videos on a slide.
If you have Office 365 or 2019 versions, here is how you can use the YouTube option to insert a YouTube video into your Power Point slide.
1a. Choose a slide where you can add content onto it (Title and Content; Two Content; Comparison; Content With Caption) and click on the bottom right icon that says "Insert Online Video" when you mouse over it.
1b. IF you choose a blank slide, click on the "Insert" tab at the top left of the app.
Then click "Video" and choose "Online Video".
2. On the Insert Video dialog box, choose "YouTube" and search for the video you want.
3. You will then see your search results. Please note that you may not find a particular video that you are looking for in the results because the user may not have allowed embedding of their video(s) on other websites. However, if you do find the video you are looking for on the results, choose it and click "Insert".
4. Your video will now be on your slide. You can move and resize the video as you see fit.
1a. To add your own video that you have in a computer, flash drive, or external drive, follow the instructions as above for inserting a video and choose "From a File" and click "Browse".
1b. If you are on a blank slide, go to the Insert tab, choose Video, and choose Video on my PC.
2. Once the dialog box is open, find your video file and double click on it or click "Insert".
You may get this upload dialog box. If you made a mistake of inserting a particular video, you can cancel the upload.
3. Once the video is uploaded, you can keep the video as is in the page or move it and resize it in the slide.

Please note that you will still need network connection in order to play videos using the embed code as it is streaming from YouTube. Also note that some videos may not have an embed code due to copyright reasons. You may need to paste a link to the video if that is the case.
1. Search for and click on the video you want. Underneath, click "Share".
2. Click "Embed".
3. Copy the full code shown in the box. Be sure to have the "Show player controls" box checked.
4. Go to the "Insert Video" dialog box and choose "From a video embed code" and paste the code on the box and press "Enter" or the arrow on the box.
5. Your video may show up as a black box at first but if you double click on it your video will play. You can move around and/or resize the video as your please.
Vimeo is another video sharing platform similar to YouTube but tailored for more high quality content when uploading. Please note that some videos may not enable sharing or have an embed code due to copyright. Instead, paste the link of the video on your slide.
1. Search for the video that you are looking for on Vimeo's site and click the "Share" button at the bottom of the video.
2. Go to "Embed" and copy the code on the box.
3. Go to the Insert Video dialog box and choose "From A Video Embed Code" and paste the code on the box. Press Enter or click the arrow.
4. Your video may come out as a black box on the slide. If you double click on it your video will play. You can move and/or resize the video as you please.
By default, when you print slides in Power Point, full page slides will be printed. But if you want to save paper, you can put multiple slides in one page.
Go to the print section and click on "Full Page Slides". A menu will appear and you can choose which
A. Full page slides: Full page view of your slides. If you have a lot of text written on the slides, it will be easier to read.
B. Notes Page: Prints one slide plus any notes you wrote down in the presentation.
C. Outline: No slides but gives a text outline written on each slide.
D. 1 Slide: Not printed full page. Space available for taking notes.
E. 2 Slides
F. 3 Slides: Three slides per page with lines for taking notes. If you have a lot of text written in some slides it may be hard to read.
G. 4 Slides: Four slides per page. If you have a lot of text written in some slides it may be hard to read.
H. 6 Slides: Six slides per page. Popular choice for printing Power Point slides. If you have a lot of text written in some slides it may be hard to read.
I. 9 Slides: Nine slides per page. If you have a lot of text written in some slides it may be much harder to read.
1. Go to the Print section (File > Print) and click "Show Details".
2. Click on the dropdown menu Layout: Slides. By default, full page slides will be printed.
3. The menu list will be the same as Windows above. See above to see what kind of printouts of slides you can print to reduce paper.
