The Sharp AQUOS Board is located in group study rooms L221 & L222 in the Gabert Library. Unlike the SMART Board, the AQUOS Board is simply a large monitor with to a small computer at the back and connected via HDMI. The AQUOS Board is also a touch screen so you can write on it/choose things with your fingers like a smartphone or tablet; it does not include special pens like the SMART Board does. The AQUOS Board is equipped with Windows 10 and logging in is similar to logging in to the computers: all the patrons need are their HCCC username and password.
The computer is located on the left side of the AQUOS Board on the top. It's easy to locate the power button without seeing it as it's a small bump you can feel.
Power button circled.
Once it's turned on (you will hear the hard drive spinning inside), turn on the power button on the bottom left corner of the monitor. It will go from red to green.
The computer is on and working well when you see the Windows logo and login screen.
There are times when the patrons will say the AQUOS Board is "not working" in which the main issue is the power is not turned on.
But sometimes, the HDMI connection may be in the wrong input in which case the monitor will show a message like this:
(Note: This message also shows when the computer is turned off in which case turn on the computer located at the top left behind the monitor.)
If you still encounter a "No Signal" message be sure to be in the correct HDMI input. You can press the "TOUCH MENU" button next to the power button.
There is an included remote in the study room.
You can also use the remote to turn on the monitor. To change connection inputs, press "INPUT".
HDMI 2 is set by default in this study room; another one may be different. Choose the correct input until you get a Windows image; the monitor is a touch screen so you can choose inputs with your finger.
Be sure to check the connections on the bottom left side and underneath behind the monitor and that the connection is plugged in tightly.
