How to make a Die using tinkercad

 

1 go to https://www.tinkercad.com/

2 sign in

3 click create new design

4 click on the box shape and move the curser  over to the work plane and click on it once more

5 after you have your box you can resize it by pressing any of the black boxes on the cube. Right now is is a 20mm by 20mm by 20mm sized cube. The measurements in this work area are by default in metric.

 

6. Once you have your die to the size you want, click on basic shapes. Then click on text and numbers.

 

7 Scroll down to bottom of the screen and hit the number 2 to go to the next selection of text and numbers. Scroll down until you see the 3 dimensional representation of the number 1.

 

8 Click on the number 1 and then click on the workplane. 

 

9 next use the scroll wheel to zoom in and then right click and move the screen so you have a side view of the number 1.

10 click on the number one and locate the symbol that looks like an arc with 2 arrow heads on it. 

11 next either click and drag the icon with the arc and two arrows until it reaches 90 degrees. You can also type in the number 90 to change the angle of the number

12 click on the hole on the top right. This indicates that the number will be cutting into something when they are combined.

 

13 select both objects by clicking the left mouse button and dragging over them. Then once the objects are selected release the left mouse button

14 on the top right press the align button. A bunch of lines will pop up.

 

15 press the bottom middle one and it will align to the center of the box

16 then press the middle circle on the right hand side it will align the height of the box.

 

17 click on the circle on the right out of the 3 circles on the left. This will bring the cube up to the number and align both fronts to them.

18 next click on the group button on the top right. It should look like an arrow. It will combine both objects into one

19 now turn the cube 90 degrees and put the next number down. 

20 keep repeating these steps until the cube is finished.

 

21 to change the name of your project go to the top left of the screen.and click on the random words there. Tinkercad uses random words for each project.

22 once you do that you can rename it what ever you like. For me, I’m going to name it dice. Once your done naming it, click somewhere else or hit enter

 

23 if you want to export your project on the top right just click export.

 

24 if you are going to print the object with us click on .STL 

 

25 it should save it to your computer. Put it on a usb stick and bring it in to us and we will print your creation
